Mary Poulin
Mary Poulin was born in Vermont, but as a child of a military family lived everywhere--4 countries, 16 houses, and 11 schools before going off to college at the University of Virginia. That was in the year that UVa was opening their doors to women, so she was an alien once again, at least to many of the alumni. A fascination for analysis sent her to California to study economics at Stanford, work in a forecasting firm, and open a financial planning business. Total boredom and restless feet brought her back to the east cost to a new career in health care informatics.
While always enjoying taking and viewing photographs, it took a divorce and a trip to Mexico—change of heart, change of environment--to ignite Mary’s desire to become a serious photographer. She took classes in California’s excellent community college system, and continued her training at the New England School of Photography’s workshop classes. Mary has shown her work in both California and Massachusetts; past projects include series on body builders, wetlands, flowers, and trips to Turkey, Iceland, and Bolivia.
