In me there is a Rage

This series shows the inner rage and deep-seated emotions I see and feel in a typical day. One of the strongest statements best describing this feeling is the poem “Rage” by Alice Walker. “In me there is a rage to defy the order of the stars despite their pretty patterns.” The deep lust, the deep rage and the overall deep emotions defy the order of the stars. In these pieces I worked toward pulling out every bit of inner turmoil, rage and strength that create each of us. I draw from the symbols of strength, rage and humanity to create each of us and build the markings on our personalities and make us the people we are.

Elisabeth Neville was born north of Boston to a family of athletes, artists, writers and poets. After years of playing with and breaking her father’s cameras, and shooting mainly in black and white she began working at a Mercer Photography in 1984. Elisabeth served as a Production Artist and Photography Studio Associate where her work ranged from student and wedding portraits to photo retouching and restoration. In 1989 she entered the Graphic Design program at Northeastern University and graduated in 1993 with a concentration in Graphic Design and minor in Sociology. Later her skills lead her to digital photo retouching and restoration. In 1995 she worked at Scitex and learned many of the high end photo editing, scanning and printing techniques. At present, she tests and supports internal financial applications and websites at a Boston based staffing company. Her artwork may be seen in local showings. In June she will be completing a Masters in Digital Media, again from Northeastern University, and planning a career in photography. She lives with her dog Milo (Named after the main character in Phantom Tollbooth) and her two black cats, Chou Chou and Bella Luna.
